
Bengaluru, Aug 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) A suspected arms smuggler moving dangerously with a weapon was shot in the leg by police in the early hours of Friday in Bengaluru, Karnataka, after he allegedly attempted to attack police personnel in the Bandepalya police station limits.
The incident occurred when a police team was patrolling the area and noticed the man, identified as Jishan, 34, a resident of Subhashnagar in Electronics City, moving around suspiciously while carrying a deadly weapon. Suspecting his activities, the police personnel approached him and attempted to intercept him.
According to preliminary information, Jishan allegedly resisted the police action and attempted to attack the personnel with the weapon. As the situation escalated, PSI Sachin reportedly opened fire at him, hitting him in the leg.
Following the firing, police personnel overpowered Jishan and took him into custody. The weapon allegedly carried by him was also seized as part of the investigation.
The preliminary investigations reveal that the accused is a suspected arms smuggler and suspected to be involved in arms-making and supplying arms.
The police have registered a case under Sections 109, 132 and 352 and also under the Arms Act.
During the confrontation, a police personnel reportedly sustained injuries. Both the injured police personnel and Jishan were shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Bengaluru for treatment.
Police are conducting further inquiries into the incident and are trying to ascertain why Jishan was moving around with a weapon during the late-night hours. Officials are also investigating whether he has any previous criminal cases or links to other offences.
The police are expected to record the statements of the personnel involved in the operation and examine the circumstances that led to the firing. Further details about the nature of the weapon, the injuries sustained by the police personnel and the accused, and the events preceding the confrontation are awaited.
