Pune, Aug 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Pune district guardian minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar on Wednesday said that all concerned government agencies and institutions need to work in coordination to find permanent solutions to various problems in the Chakan industrial area that have remained pending for several years.
The committee constituted for the development of Chakan has prepared a roadmap for its work, and the committee will be provided full cooperation by listening to its suggestions and demands, she added.
DCM Pawar reviewed various issues concerning the Chakan area as well as the functioning of the high-level committee constituted for the overall development of Chakan.
She held a review meeting days after industrial units from the Chakan industrial area were protected against deteriorating infrastructure, while some of them threatened to relocate themselves if their grievances were not addressed.
She said the fact that all concerned agencies have come together on one platform to resolve Chakan’s problems is a positive development. “Various issues are being studied in depth through the committee, and action is being taken in a phased manner,” she added.
Considering the growing population, industrial expansion and increasing traffic in the Chakan area, there is a need to strengthen security arrangements, the Deputy CM said, adding that action is being taken for the immediate deployment of 100 security personnel and steps are also underway to establish new police stations as required.
Chakan is a major industrial centre, and several citizens and entrepreneurs from across the country and abroad visit the area. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that cleanliness, security and infrastructure in the area are of a high standard, she said.
“It is a matter of concern to see large quantities of garbage and plastic along the roads while entering Chakan. Discussions have been held with the concerned agencies to take immediate measures to address this issue,” DCM Pawar noted.
On the issue of waste management, discussions have been held with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and steps have been taken to make land available for a waste processing project. Work on setting up the project is being taken forward, she said. “Every project takes some time, but efforts are underway to resolve the waste management issue at the earliest,” the deputy CM added.
Instructions have been issued to immediately address the problem of potholes on roads in the Chakan area, with the concerned agencies directed to fill the potholes by August 31, she said.
She further added that priority action is also being taken regarding road repairs, traffic congestion points and traffic management. The parking issue in the Chakan area is also important. Steps are being taken to create parking facilities by making proper use of available spaces, DCM Pawar said.
“There is a need to consider roads, parking and traffic management together to ensure smooth traffic movement,” she added.
The issue of encroachments in the Chakan area will be taken up on priority, DCM Pawar said.
She stated that “No one will be spared while removing encroachments. However, local residents should also cooperate with the administration." It is necessary to cooperate with the administration’s action instead of supporting encroachments carried out in an improper manner, she said.
DCM Pawar revealed that Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority and other concerned agencies have started working rapidly within their respective jurisdictions on the issues concerning Chakan.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi announced that an ‘action plan’ comprising immediate and long-term measures has been finalised through coordination among various departments to ease traffic congestion in the Pune-Chakan industrial belt. Instructions have been issued to complete the repair of potholes and road shoulders by August 31, and officials have been warned of action in case of delay in the work, he added.
