Instead of adding fuel to the fire, Taapsee turned the question around—and delivered a pointed lesson on why the controversy refuses to die.

Taapsee began with a question of her own: "I would just like to ask—why is it always a man asking two women a question like this?" The actress then made it clear that she believes the constant questioning itself keeps an old controversy alive. "You had the opportunity today... why don't you just let this matter rest?" she asked.

Taapsee did not stop there. "If you stopped asking us both about it, the issue would die down. But it seems everyone is enjoying the spectacle, so everyone keeps asking the same question," she said. The actress essentially suggested that if people genuinely wanted the matter to end, they would stop turning it into a recurring headline.

"If you genuinely wanted this issue to end, you would stop asking such questions, and the matter would have been resolved long ago," Taapsee added. "That is precisely the reason for the kind of scripts I choose now; having done so many films early on—it created what you call a 'snowball effect'—I mostly receive scripts of that same nature," she explained.

The actress also admitted that she sometimes wants to step away from intense characters and do something lighter, but those opportunities are not always coming her way. "Sometimes I do feel like doing a lighter film in between, but those offers just aren't coming in," she said, highlighting the peculiar challenge of being recognised for a particular kind of performance.

Taapsee also opened up about the long gaps between her recent releases and the toll that intense films can take. "Someone was asking me about my films recently; these days, there’s a long wait—my movies are coming out after significant gaps," she said.

And for Taapsee, the issue isn't simply physical exhaustion. "Forget the physical toll—I get mentally exhausted after doing films like that; I can't do them too frequently. It probably wouldn't be good for my mental well-being," she admitted.

The comments reveal an actress who is increasingly conscious about what she wants from her career and how much she is willing to put herself through for a role. From physically demanding action parts to emotionally heavy characters, Taapsee has built a reputation for taking on women who are rarely written as passive figures in their own stories.
