Odisha Deputy CM meets PM Modi, briefs him on fifth SUBHADRA scheme instalment

Bhubaneswar, Aug 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Women and Child Development, Pravati Parida, on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi ahead of the release of the fifth instalment of the SUBHADRA scheme, the state government’s flagship women empowerment initiative.

According to an official statement, during the meeting, Parida apprised the Prime Minister of the preparations for the disbursement of the fifth instalment of SUBHADRA, which is scheduled to be released on August 28, on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima, from Nayagada in Odisha. The fifth instalment will provide Rs 5,000 to each eligible beneficiary through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

As per the latest preparations, 1,03,26,162 eligible women beneficiaries are set to receive the instalment, involving a total transfer of more than Rs 5,160 crore.

PM Modi was also informed about the steps being undertaken by the state Government to ensure seamless and timely transfer of the assistance to all eligible beneficiaries. Particular emphasis has been laid on beneficiary verification, e-KYC, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, NPCI mapping and other banking arrangements to ensure that the financial assistance reaches beneficiaries without delay.

The Deputy CM also briefed the Prime Minister about the significance of the fifth instalment in furthering the state Government’s commitment to the economic empowerment and financial inclusion of women across Odisha. It is noteworthy that PM Modi launched the SUBHADRA scheme in Bhubaneswar on September 17, 2024.

The flagship women-centric scheme of the Government of Odisha aims to provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to eligible women over a period of five years, with Rs 10,000 being provided annually in two equal instalments of Rs 5,000 each through DBT.

“The fifth instalment marks another significant milestone in the implementation of SUBHADRA, reinforcing the State Government’s efforts towards strengthening women’s economic independence and ensuring that the benefits of welfare programmes reach eligible women in a transparent and efficient manner,” claimed the state government.
