Vidisha, Aug 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) A woman and her two minor daughters died at a medical college in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district after falling ill, with police suspecting that they may have consumed a poisonous substance, an official said on Tuesday.
Police said the incident took place Monday night on Reetha Phatak Road. The deceased were identified as Varsha Dangi, wife of Ritesh Dangi and a resident of Kachi Mohalla, and her daughters Sejal and Sanvi.
According to police, Sejal was the first to fall ill. Family members rushed her to the medical college during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, where doctors declared her dead. Later, Ritesh brought his wife, Varsha, and younger daughter, Sanvi, to the hospital. Both died during treatment later that night, police said.
Ritesh’s younger brother Nilesh told police that when he reached home on Monday evening, he found Varsha vomiting while Sanvi was lying unconscious. He immediately took Sanvi to the medical college.
Ritesh told family members that he spoke to Varsha on the phone around 6 p.m. on Monday, and she said everything was fine. However, when he returned home later, he found her condition had deteriorated, according to police.
“Prima facie, it appears that the three may have consumed a poisonous substance. However, the exact cause of death will be established only after the post‑mortem examination and further investigation,” ASI Mohammad Shahid of Kotwali police station told IANS.
Shahid said police have begun recording statements of family members and are examining the circumstances at the scene. Investigators are also trying to ascertain what substance may have been consumed and the circumstances in which it was taken.
“The investigation is at a preliminary stage. We are examining the scene and recording statements of family members. Further action will be taken based on the post‑mortem reports and facts emerging during the investigation,” Shahid added.
The family said Ritesh and Varsha had been married for around 13 years. Ritesh runs a clothing shop, and the couple had two daughters.
