Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI expressed his expectations for their contribution to nation-building in South Sudan and, by extension, to peace and stability in East Africa, and wished them a successful completion of their mission.

Japan has been dispatching the staff officers to the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) since November 2011. Currently, four individuals are working as information analysis, logistics, engineering, and aviation operations staff officers and one member of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force is serving as Force Chief of Staff at the UNMISS Headquarters in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
