Attendance of Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Onishi at the Departure Ceremony for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) (18th Intelligence and Engineering Staff Officers)

On August 25, Mr. Onishi Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the departure ceremony for two members of the Japan's international peace cooperation contingent who will be dispatched as 18th headquarters staff to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) (Major Sato Noriko and Major Ushio Shota).

Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI expressed his expectations for their contribution to nation-building in South Sudan and, by extension, to peace and stability in East Africa, and wished them a successful completion of their mission.

Japan has been dispatching the staff officers to the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) since November 2011. Currently, four individuals are working as information analysis, logistics, engineering, and aviation operations staff officers and one member of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force is serving as Force Chief of Staff at the UNMISS Headquarters in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
