Haridwar, Aug 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday supported the Narendra Modi government's "One Nation, One Election" initiative.
The saffron-clad reformer, while addressing a grand sant samagam here, said that India's endless poll calendar is quietly bleeding the education system dry.
"'One Nation, One Election' will help improve the education system because elections continue throughout the year, with one election or another taking place every few months," Ramdev declared.
He painted a vivid picture of teachers pulled away from blackboards for weeks to join continuous election duties, he said, and added that it consumes significant time from educators; a single-cycle poll would free them to focus fully on students.
Frequent elections, the yoga pioneer warned, keep the nation locked in perpetual campaign mode, stalling developmental schemes and national progress.
"By creating chaos and disruptions on the streets and in Parliament, some people seem to believe that they can hold democracy hostage. But no one can hold democracy captive," he asserted.
Ramdev noted that the entire sant community stands united behind the idea because national interest must supersede partisan or regional politics.
He linked the reform to broader national renewal, saying: "Reforms are needed in the education system, healthcare system, economy, agriculture and various aspects of democracy. Our Prime minister (Narendra Modi) has launched more than 100 schemes so that India can become developed nation by 2047 though we want it to attain the goal early by 2040. Our Prime Minister is working in these areas, and more work will continue in the future."
When questions drifted toward recent controversies involving Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut and leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Ramdev stayed characteristically aloof.
"The people of this country know who Swami Ramdev is and what his contribution has been. Therefore, I do not want to make any remarks about people of such stature," he said about Kangana Ranaut.
On the other, the Yoga guru added, "I don't want to say anything about any person whose thinking is petty", before pivoting back to his life's work in yoga, Ayurveda and Swadeshi.
In the spiritual heartland of Haridwar, Ramdev's message was clear; synchronised elections are not merely an administrative fix—they are a path to reclaim teachers' time, restore focus on classrooms, and let democracy breathe without constant interruption.
