Fazilka (Punjab), Aug 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a heartfelt tribute to soldiers guarding the nation's borders, 1,100 special rakhis prepared by the local Women Welfare Society were dedicated to the armed forces on Sunday at the state-level programme 'Rakhi Sarhad Ke Naam -- Samman of National Defence, Pride of Sisters' at the Asafwala War Memorial located a few kilometres away from Punjab's Fazilka district.
The programme witnessed a strong spirit of patriotism, gratitude and respect for the armed forces.
Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the programme as the chief guest.
Appreciating the rakhis prepared by the women members of the society, the Governor said that society's respect and gratitude towards the soldiers guarding the nation's borders must always remain strong.
Lieutenant General Shamsher Singh Virk and several senior Army officers were also present.
The programme highlighted the courage and dedication of soldiers who remain deployed along the borders in extremely challenging conditions, from sub-zero temperatures to scorching heat.
Their commitment enables citizens to live safely with their families, while the soldiers remain away from their loved ones in the service of the nation.
The atmosphere at the Asafwala War Memorial was emotional and deeply patriotic.
Women members expressed their respect and affection for the soldiers and paid tribute to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The dedication of 1,100 rakhis became a powerful expression of the sisters' love, gratitude and respect for the nation's protectors.
The programme also aimed to connect the younger generation with the sacrifices, courage and dedication of the armed forces.
