New Delhi, Aug 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar will embark on a two-day official visit to Russia starting Sunday to co-chair the 27th Session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday.

The scheduled visit from August 23-24 is at the invitation of the first Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Denis Manturov.

During the visit, EAM will also meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and exchange perspectives on regional and global issues, the MEA mentioned.

The visit comes amid continued efforts by India and Russia to deepen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

Earlier, a meeting of the Working Group on Planning of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation was held in New Delhi, during which both sides discussed ways to expand interaction between armed forces.

"On August 20-21, a meeting of the Working Group on Planning of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation was held in New Delhi. In his Independence Day greetings to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Putin also spoke about the fruitful cooperation between India and Russia.

In July, EAM Jaishankar held a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Lavrov, in Manila and reiterated India's strong concern about the safety of Indian seafarers in the region.
