Starring Preity Zinta, Kunal Kemmu, Sparsh Shrivastava and Vanshika Dhir, Vibe appears to mix action, comedy and a touch of spy-thriller madness. Instead of introducing perfectly trained secret agents who know exactly what they are doing, the film seems to throw ordinary, somewhat clueless people into a situation that is far bigger than them. The result? A bunch of unlikely heroes trying to handle a national-security-sized problem while probably struggling to keep their own lives in order.
The teaser's biggest strength is its playful approach to the familiar Bollywood spy universe. The phrase “Jabardast Agents” immediately brings to mind the super-skilled action heroes audiences have become accustomed to watching, while “Zabardasti ke Agents” flips that image into comedy. Here, heroism does not necessarily come with military training, perfectly tailored suits or a collection of high-tech gadgets. Sometimes, apparently, it comes because you simply happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
At the centre of this unusual adventure is Kunal Kemmu, who has once again stepped behind the camera after the success of his directorial debut Madgaon Express. Written and directed by Kemmu, Vibe gives him the opportunity to combine his comic sensibilities with a much larger action canvas. The premise follows a clueless slacker and his disciplined best friend who accidentally stumble upon a major terrorist plot, leaving them with the rather unfortunate responsibility of saving the nation.
And then there is Preity Zinta, who looks every bit like she is having fun with the madness. The actress appears in a confident, commanding avatar, adding a completely different energy to the otherwise chaotic world surrounding Kemmu and Sparsh Shrivastava. Her presence also makes Vibe particularly interesting as it marks another major screen appearance for the actress as she continues her return to mainstream Hindi cinema.
Sparsh Shrivastava, who won plenty of attention with Laapataa Ladies, joins the unlikely team, while Vanshika Dhir makes her acting debut with the film. Their contrasting personalities appear to be an important part of the comedy, particularly as the characters find themselves caught in a situation where there is very little room for mistakes. Of course, making mistakes may be precisely what makes this particular team entertaining.
Produced by Kunal Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under the banner of Drongo Films, Vibe is presented by Amazon MGM Studios. The film also features Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua in the cast. With its combination of action, comedy and an intentionally unconventional take on the agent formula, the film seems determined not to play by the usual Bollywood spy movie rulebook.
The timing also makes Vibe an interesting addition to the September release calendar. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 18, 2026, giving audiences a chance to see Kemmu follow up Madgaon Express with a completely different kind of theatrical entertainer. And if the teaser is an indication of what's coming, this is one mission where nobody should expect the agents to have everything under control.
After all, jabardast agents may save the world with style, but zabardasti ke agents might just make the whole thing much more fun.
