
Jaipur, Aug 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) A meeting to review preparations for the upcoming urban local body polls was held on Friday at the conference hall of the State Election Commission in the Government Secretariat complex, under the chairmanship of Rajasthan State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh.
During the meeting, the Commission held detailed discussions on the preparations and arrangements being made to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful manner.
Representatives of political parties were briefed on key aspects of the urban local body elections, including important provisions, the election schedule, electoral rolls, the nomination process, voting arrangements, the Model Code of Conduct, and election expenditure.
The Commission also invited suggestions and sought the views of political party representatives on measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the election process.
State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh said that the cooperation of all political parties is essential to ensuring free and fair elections.
Singh appealed to the political parties to actively contribute to strengthening the democratic process by adhering to election-related rules and guidelines.
He placed particular emphasis on effective compliance with the Model Code of Conduct and clarified that all political parties and candidates must strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Commission, as well as the applicable legal provisions governing the election process.
The meeting was attended by Commission Secretary Rajesh Verma, senior officials of the State Election Commission, and representatives of various recognised political parties.
The elections for 309 urban local bodies in Rajasthan were announced on Wednesday evening at 4 p.m.
The State Election Commission will conduct elections in cities in two phases.
Voting will take place in the first phase on September 9 and in the second phase on September 11, with results to be declared on September 14.
For the first time in Rajasthan's history, elections are being held simultaneously across all urban local bodies.
