Odisha govt reshuffles six senior IPS officers

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Odisha Government on Friday effected a major reshuffle of senior IPS officers in the state, assigning new responsibilities to several senior police officers as part of its administrative exercise.

As per a notification issued by the state Home Department, the 2003-batch IPS officer Himansu Kumar Lal, previously serving as Inspector General (IG) of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur, has been appointed as the IG of Police for the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Bhubaneswar, and the Special Task Force (STF).

 

Under the reshuffle, the 2004-batch IPS officer Satyabrat Bhoi, currently heading the Northern Central Range (NCR), Talcher, has been posted as IG of Police, Intelligence.

Senior officer Jai Narayan Pankaj, a 2005-batch IPS officer and former IG of Police, Intelligence, will take over as IG of Police, Southern Range, Brahmapur. He will replace 2007-batch Niti Shekhar, who has been reassigned as IG of Police (Provisioning) at the State Police Headquarters.

Meanwhile, 2009-batch officer Charan Singh Meena, who served as DIG (Provisioning), has been posted as DIG of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur.

According to the notification, 2010-batch officer Ashish Kumar Singh, upon returning to the state cadre after repatriation from Central deputation, has been appointed DIG of Police, Northern Central Range, Talcher, with additional charge as Principal of the Police Training College (PTC) in Anugola.

The reshuffle follows the appointment of CID, Crime Branch DGP Vinaytosh Mishra as the interim head of the state police, with additional charge of DGP, Odisha Police. Mishra took over as DGP, Odisha Police, on August 16 following the retirement of former DGP Y.B. Khurania.

In a high-level review meeting on Friday, the new DGP held detailed discussions on the prevailing law and order situation, identifying sensitive areas, reviewing major crimes, and planning further steps to control crime in the state.
