Ameer Log Review: Hyderabad’s Galli Life, Friendship & Emotions Hit the Right Notes (Rating: 3/5)

Ameer Log is the kind of film that doesn't try to look bigger than it is. Instead, it brings the audience straight into the lives of three Hyderabad youngsters and builds its story around friendship, relationships, responsibility and everyday struggles.

Directed by Ramana Reddy Soma, the film stars newcomers MC Hari, Manoj and Sasidhar in the lead roles. The movie released today, August 21, 2026, with theatrical distribution by Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media. (Cinemarangam)

Story

Seenu, Rafiq and Mallesh are three carefree friends from the Hyderabad basti. Their lives are filled with friendship, fun and the usual problems that come with being young and irresponsible.

Things change when circumstances force them to look at life differently. The film follows their journey from carefree youngsters to people who begin understanding responsibility, relationships and the consequences of their choices.

And yes, biryani plays an important role in the story. But thankfully, Ameer Log isn't simply a film about food. It uses the biryani thread to bring together its characters and their lives. (ABP Desam)

Performances

The biggest surprise is the performances.

MC Hari, Manoj and Sasidhar don't feel like newcomers trying to act. Their performances are natural, particularly in the friendship scenes. Their chemistry gives the film much of its charm.

Vedha Jalandharr makes an impression, while Raavan Nitturu gets an important role that pushes the story forward. The supporting cast also fits naturally into the Hyderabad setting. (Cinemarangam)

There is no conventional "hero" trying to dominate every frame. That's actually one of the film's strengths.

Direction

Ramana Reddy Soma keeps the film grounded. Much of the movie was shot inside an actual Hyderabad basti, and that gives Ameer Log an authenticity that polished sets simply cannot recreate. The film was also largely shot using sync sound, which helps retain the natural atmosphere and local flavour. (TeluguBulletin.com)

The Hyderabad dialect, Telangana slang, Hindi and Urdu words blend naturally into the conversations. It feels like people talking rather than actors delivering written dialogue.

The director's biggest success is making the characters feel like people you might actually know.

What Works

The friendship between the three leads is easily the film's biggest strength.

The emotional portions also work well because the film takes time to establish its characters before putting them through difficult situations. There is humour, family emotion and a sense of community running through the narrative.

The realistic Hyderabad setting adds considerably to the experience.

Smaran Sai's music is another plus. The songs and background score complement the old-city atmosphere, while the "Seeda Helicopter Shot" track brings plenty of youthful energy. (NTV Telugu)

What Doesn't

The film isn't without flaws.

The second half has a few bumps and some portions could have been tighter. The narrative occasionally loses momentum before finding its rhythm again.

Also, viewers looking for a conventional commercial entertainer may find the film too grounded. Ameer Log is more interested in characters and relationships than hero elevations or big cinematic moments.

Technical Aspects

SVK's cinematography deserves special mention. The camera captures Hyderabad's streets and basti life without making everything look artificially cinematic.

Rohit Penumatsa's editing is decent, although the second half could have benefited from tighter cuts.

Smaran Sai's music and background score complement the film particularly well. (Cinemarangam)

Verdict

Ameer Log is a sincere, grounded film that gets its heart right.

It may not have the polish or scale of a big commercial Telugu movie, but that's precisely what makes it different. The natural performances, authentic Hyderabad setting and genuine friendship between the three leads carry the film.

The film reminds us that being "Ameer" isn't necessarily about money — sometimes you're rich because of the people around you.

The second half has some issues, but the emotional payoff and performances make up for most of them.

Ameer Log is not a perfect film, but it is a film with a heart.

Bottom Line: Raw Hyderabad flavour. Genuine friendship. Good performances. A simple story told with plenty of heart.
