Clean Up Company Promises Dark Comedy And Crime With A Very Unusual Business Idea

What happens when three friends decide that cleaning up murder scenes could be a profitable career? That is the wonderfully twisted question at the heart of Clean Up Company, the upcoming Hindi dark comedy crime series from Jio Studios. The eight episode series is set to stream for free on Prime Video from August 21, bringing together crime, chaos and plenty of dark humour.

Jio Studios teased the series with the cheeky line, “ab hogi cleaning bhi, kamaai bhi,” perfectly capturing the bizarre business idea driving the story. But this is certainly not your regular cleaning service. Set in the lawless border town of Saribgunj, the series follows three friends who spot an unusual opportunity in the aftermath of gangland violence — cleaning up murder scenes for criminals and getting paid for it.

What initially looks like a clever way to make quick money soon becomes considerably more complicated. As the trio gets deeper into the business, they find themselves surrounded by gangsters, rivalries and escalating violence. What starts as a seemingly simple operation quickly becomes a dangerous game where one wrong move could turn the cleaners into the next people needing to be cleaned up.

The show's premise gives it plenty of room for dark comedy. There is something inherently absurd about turning the aftermath of crime into a legitimate business model, especially when the customers are people who have just committed murder. The series appears ready to find humour in that madness while still maintaining the danger and unpredictability of its crime-driven world.

Vishal Jethwa and Amey Wagh are among the leading faces of the series, joined by Ajitesh Gupta. The cast also features Jisshu Sengupta, Saswata Chatterjee and Ravi Kishan, bringing together an interesting mix of performers from Hindi, Bengali and Marathi cinema. With such a varied ensemble, the criminal underworld of Saribgunj looks set to be populated by plenty of colourful and unpredictable characters.

The small-town setting is another intriguing element. Saribgunj is described as a lawless border town, providing the perfect environment for the three friends to stumble into a business that would be impossible to imagine in a more conventional setting. But operating in a place where crime is part of everyday life also means they have to deal with people who are far more dangerous than they initially expected.

Police scrutiny adds another layer to their increasingly messy situation. The friends may think they have discovered a clever way to make money, but cleaning up crime scenes naturally puts them close to the very evidence law enforcement is looking for. As their operation grows, keeping their business secret could become just as difficult as surviving the criminals who employ them.

The combination of crime and comedy gives Clean Up Company an unusual hook in the crowded streaming space. Rather than following cops trying to solve murders or criminals trying to escape them, the series puts three ordinary friends in the middle of the aftermath. Their strange profession means they are constantly walking the line between opportunity and disaster.

With eight episodes arriving together, viewers can dive straight into the chaotic world of Saribgunj when Clean Up Company premieres on August 21. The series will be available for free on Prime Video and the MX Player by Prime Video app, making the dark comedy accessible to audiences without an additional subscription.

If the idea of making money by cleaning up after gangsters sounds like a terrible business plan, that is probably exactly the point. Clean Up Company takes an outrageous premise, throws it into a volatile crime world and adds a healthy dose of dark humour. Whether the three friends can turn their unusual venture into a successful business — or simply survive it — is the real question.
