A Tale Of Two Cities Trailer: Kit Harington Leads MGM+’s Dark New Dickens Adaptation

MGM+ has unveiled the first official trailer for ** A Tale of Two Cities **, bringing Charles Dickens’ celebrated tale of love, sacrifice, revolution and redemption to the screen in a brand-new series adaptation. Set against the tense political climate of 18th-century Europe, the series promises a sweeping period drama filled with romance, danger and the kind of moral choices that can change lives forever. Leading the cast is Kit Harington, who takes on the iconic role of Sydney Carton.

The story begins in London in 1782, where young Lucie Manette’s life is suddenly turned upside down when she receives news that her father, believed to have been dead for nearly two decades, may actually be alive. Her search for answers leads her towards Paris and into the complicated world of Charles Darnay, an idealistic French émigré who finds himself arrested and accused of treason. When Darnay needs help, Lucie turns to Sydney Carton, a brilliant but troubled young lawyer whose life becomes increasingly intertwined with hers.

The trailer sets up a compelling love triangle between Lucie Manette, Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton, played by Mirren Mack, François Civil and Kit Harington respectively. While Darnay and Carton may look remarkably alike, their personalities could not be more different.
