Patna, Aug 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police conducted simultaneous raids on Friday at properties linked to an Executive Engineer in the Road Construction Department in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case.
The searches began early in the morning at three locations, including properties in Bihar Sharif and other parts of Nalanda district, linked to Sanjay Kumar, the Executive Engineer. Sudden raids created a commotion among the locals, and tension erupted.
According to the information available, the EOU received confidential inputs that Sanjay Kumar, who is currently posted in Khagaria district, had allegedly used his official position to accumulate assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The agency reportedly verified the information before registering a case and obtaining a search warrant from the court.
Following this, separate EOU teams launched coordinated searches at the identified premises.
The operation included searches at Sanjay Kumar's ancestral residence in Mogalkuan, Bihar Sharif; a property in Baulipar, and another premises linked to the officer.
Security was tightened around all locations during the searches, with Nalanda Police assisting the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) officials throughout the operation.
Police personnel were deployed around the alleged properties of the officer to ensure the safety of the EOU team and maintain law and order as searches continued.
The EOU officials were examining various documents and financial records found at the premises, reportedly including property-related documents, bank passbooks, locker keys, investment records, and other financial and asset-related papers.
The agency is expected to compare the assets and financial transactions uncovered during the searches with Sanjay Kumar's known sources of income.
The EOU has not yet released a complete official account of the cash, valuables, documents or other assets recovered during the searches.
The investigation remains underway, and the agency's detailed statement is expected to clarify the nature and value of the assets identified during the operation.
