Pa Ranjith Backs Ban NEET Movement With Powerful New Song From Dhamma The Band

Filmmaker Pa Ranjith has extended his support to the ongoing movement against NEET with a powerful musical statement. The filmmaker shared a new song by Dhamma The Band, describing it as a reflection of the struggles surrounding the medical entrance examination and calling for greater accessibility in medical education. The song arrives as a cultural expression of solidarity with students and those demanding changes to the current system.

Sharing the music video on social media, Pa Ranjith wrote, “10 years of NEET - Countless lives lost - Systemic exclusion with a different MASK. We stand with the students. We demand the abolition of NEET.” He further urged people to watch the drama unfold and join the movement to make medical education accessible to all. Through his post, the filmmaker has amplified the voices behind the campaign while using music as a medium to engage with a contentious public issue.

Titled the Ban NEET Song, the track by Dhamma The Band channels the emotions, concerns and frustrations associated with the anti-NEET movement. Rather than presenting the issue only through political speeches or protests, the musicians have attempted to turn the subject into a creative and accessible form of expression. The song focuses on student struggles and systemic exclusion, reflecting the concerns raised by sections of the movement over the past decade.

Dhamma The Band also explained the inspiration behind the song, stating, “We, Dhamma The Band, have been closely following the Ban NEET protest and standing in constant support of the movement.” The band said the song was created from the voices, struggles and spirit of the people involved in the movement. Describing music as their way of standing with the people, the band concluded its message with a simple call: “Listen. Feel. Stand together.”

The track brings together several artists and technicians. Dhamma The Band is credited with the music, arrangement and production, while Trend Gana Sanjay has penned the lyrics and Arampa has lent his voice to the song. Programming is handled by Immanuel Sagayaraj, with additional programming, mixing and mastering by Thamizh Kumaran of Andromeda Records. The collaboration gives the protest song a distinct independent music identity while keeping its central message firmly rooted in the student movement.

Pa Ranjith's decision to share the song adds another layer to his long-standing engagement with social and political themes through cinema and culture. His post, accompanied by hashtags including Ban NEET, NEET Exposed, Stand Together, Save Our Students and Justice For Students, has positioned the song as more than just a musical release. It is being presented as a call for solidarity and a platform for voices demanding change.

As debates around NEET continue to generate strong reactions, Dhamma The Band's Ban NEET Song attempts to carry the conversation beyond conventional protest spaces and into music. With Pa Ranjith lending his platform to the release, the song has gained additional visibility while highlighting the role that art and popular culture can play in expressing public concerns. Whether heard as a protest anthem or a musical reflection of student struggles, its message is clear — listen, feel and stand together.
