Guwahati, Aug 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Standing Finance Committee (SFC) of the Assam government has examined and approved financial proposals involving more than Rs 66 crore across four departments, while stressing prudent utilisation of public funds, timely execution of projects and measurable developmental outcomes, officials said on Tuesday. The proposals relate to the Women and Child Development, Home and Political, Transport, and Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises departments.
Among the major proposals, the committee considered an allocation of Rs 25 crore by the Women and Child Development Department for 2026-27.
Of this, Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for providing utensil kits to pre-school children enrolled at Anganwadi Centres, while Rs 15 crore has been proposed under the Terminal Benefit Scheme for Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Workers (Mini) and Anganwadi Helpers.
The SFC also examined a Rs 14.32-crore proposal of the Home and Political Department under the Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation Scheme.
Under the scheme, a one-time financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh will be provided to members of 358 Kuki and Hmar groups to facilitate their socio-economic rehabilitation.
The programme will be implemented through the Special Branch Headquarters, Assam. The committee noted that Rs 32.57 crore is currently available under the concerned budget head.
In the Transport Department, the committee approved revalidation of Rs 10.92 crore for construction of the District Transport Office building at Amingaon in Kamrup district.
The project has recorded 72 per cent physical and 58.74 per cent financial progress, with Rs 6.41 crore already released.
The committee directed the authorities to expedite the remaining work. A revised Annual Administration proposal worth Rs 15.72 crore from the Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises Department was also reviewed.
The proposal covers installation of a dedicated 33 KV power line and a 2x5 MVA, 33/11 KV sub-station with a control room at the Industrial Estate in Dighalichapari, Sonitpur.
The project has achieved 90 per cent physical progress, with Rs 6.74 crore released. Once operational, it is expected to ensure reliable power supply to industries in the estate.
The SFC stressed strict adherence to financial and procurement norms, prevention of fund diversion and close monitoring of implementation.
