MP govt to form Tribal police units, set up industrial security force

Bhopal, Aug 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh will form special police companies comprising youths from the Baiga, Bharia and Sahariya tribal communities and set up three State Industrial Security Force units, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Monday.

Yadav also announced the setting up of a new police battalion in Khandwa while addressing a Police Department programme at Ravindra Bhavan in Bhopal. He said the first of the three proposed State Industrial Security Force units would be formed in the initial phase.

The Chief Minister said special police companies would be formed by recruiting youths from the Baiga, Bharia and Sahariya communities, which are classified as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

The announcements came as the state government highlighted a major expansion of the police force through promotions and fresh recruitment. A record 27,534 police officers and personnel across 58 cadres have been promoted, Yadav said. These include 12,928 constables promoted as head constables and 5,171 head constables promoted as assistant sub‑inspectors. Thirty Reserve Inspectors have also been promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

“The government has resolved to boost the morale of the police force and every police personnel. Those who face physical injuries and stress while maintaining law and order must be assured that their hard work will be recognised and rewarded,” Yadav said.

He said more than 14,704 candidates had been selected for various police posts since 2023, while recruitment to another 9,751 posts was underway. Recruitment for the police band and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is also in the final stages, he added.

“The khaki uniform and the stars on the shoulders symbolise the security and trust of 8.5 crore people of Madhya Pradesh. Police personnel should work with honesty, sensitivity, discipline and impartiality so that people develop affection for the police and criminals fear the law,” Yadav said.

Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana said recruitment to 7,500 posts of constables, subedars and sub‑inspectors approved earlier was nearing completion. Recruitment to 9,662 other posts has also been approved this year, he said.

Makwana said the Hawk Force had played an important role in eliminating Naxalism from the state. Recruitment has been completed for 325 posts in the Hawk Force and 882 posts in the Special Auxiliary Squad. More than 18,000 police personnel have been recruited in the last two years and will be available for Simhastha 2028 security duties after completing their training, he added.
