Gandhinagar, Aug 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Gujarat will begin a 45-day statewide digital crop survey on August 15, covering more than 95 lakh agricultural plots across 18,197 villages as part of the Centre’s AgriStack initiative, the state government said on Monday.
The survey for the Kharif-2026 season will cover cultivable areas across all districts of the state and will continue until September 30.
The exercise aims to digitally record details of crops cultivated on individual fields and survey numbers.
Under the system, designated government surveyors will visit each field or survey number and upload information on the crops sown by farmers through a digital application.
The information will include geo-tagged photographs of the crops, allowing cultivation details to be recorded digitally.
The Digital Crop Survey has been carried out across Gujarat since 2024-25 under the central government's 'AgriStack' project. The state government said the current exercise would cover all eligible agricultural plots identified for the Kharif season.
Farmers registered in the Farmer Registry will also have the option of conducting the survey themselves instead of waiting for a designated surveyor.
They can download the Digital Crop Survey application on their mobile phones and use it to register details of the crops cultivated on their land.
The Directorate of Agriculture has appealed to farmers to ensure that the digital survey of all their survey numbers is completed by September 30, either through the designated surveyor in their village or by using the mobile application themselves.
The government has urged farmers to participate in the exercise and complete the crop registration within the stipulated 45-day period.
The survey will run continuously from August 15 to September 30, covering the 18,197 villages and more than 95 lakh plots identified for the Kharif-2026 season.
