Celebrating spirit of freedom: Manipur CM flags off ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ bike rally

Imphal, Aug 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a display of patriotic spirit as part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday flagged off a bike rally from Imphal East district to encourage people to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate in the campaign.

While flagging off the rally, the Chief Minister said that since India gained independence, the people have been celebrating the spirit of freedom by proudly hoisting the national Tricolour. Noting that Independence Day is observed across the country to mark the importance of that historic day, he urged all citizens to work together with unity and patriotism to achieve the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” and to build a strong India.

He also called on everyone to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India the strongest nation in the world.

Expressing confidence in the event, CM Khemchand Singh said he hopes the Tiranga Yatra will be a grand success and will help bring peace and stability to Manipur.

The rally was organised as part of the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign aimed at promoting patriotism, national pride and unity.

The Chief Minister led the rally, which was also attended by state Home Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh. The rally began at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East district, passed through National Highway-2, Khongjom War Memorial, Thoubal and Kakching Districts and concluded at the 8th Battalion Manipur Rifles Campus at Leikun in Chandel District.

The bike rally was a strong display of patriotism, with participants waving the national flag and reaffirming their commitment to the progress and unity of the nation.

The rally was organised by the Manipur Police Department and saw the participation of thousands of bikers from across the state.

The flag-off ceremony was also attended by Art and Culture Minister Kh. Loken Singh, Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra and BJP Manipur in-charge Ajit Gopchade, MLA Nishikant Sapam, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh, other senior police and government officials among others.

A senior official said that as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, PM Modi launched the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan in 2022. The fifth edition of the campaign is being celebrated from August 9 to 17 this year, he said, adding that the campaign would encourage citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and actively participate in programmes across the state.

“This campaign aims at developing a personal connect with the national flag, paying respect to the freedom fighters and igniting patriotism,” the official noted, saying that these celebrations are dedicated to the 150th year observance of Vande Mataram, with a series of programmes planned across Tripura.

The official said the campaign, organised as part of the nationwide initiative of the Union Ministry of Culture, seeks to take the message of patriotism to every village and urban centre in the state.
