A major fire broke out late on Friday in the woods near Lake Garda in northern Italy, forcing authorities to evacuate around 200 people, according to Riva del Garda firefighters.
The blaze broke out in the hilly area of Tignale, threatening a number of homes, around five holiday homes and a holiday complex in the vicinity. Around 80 people, including members of the Carabinieri, the Civil Protection Agency and the fire brigade, were deployed to extinguish the fire, which burnt around 4,500 square metres of woodland.
