Jackie Shroff celebrates 40 years of Dilip Kumar-starrer ‘Karma’, shares important moments from movie

Mumbai, August 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) As the iconic patriotic action drama ‘Karma’ completed 40 years on August 8, Jackie Shroff celebrated the milestone by sharing a montage of memorable scenes from the film.

Directed and produced by ace veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai, ‘Karma’ was released on August 8, 1986, and emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

The film was praised for its gripping narrative, powerful performances and patriotic spirit, and mounted on a grand scale.

Talking about its storyline, it revolved around Jailor Rana Vishwa Pratap Singh essayed by Dilip Kumar, whose family is destroyed by ruthless international terrorist Dr. Michael Dang, played by Anupam Kher. Determined to bring the dreaded criminal to justice, Rana recruits three convicts, Johnny (Jackie Shroff), Khairuddin aka Baiju Choudhury (Naseeruddin Shah) and Ajju (Anil Kapoor), to undertake a dangerous mission against Dang and his terror network.

Apart from Dilip Kumar's commanding performance, the film boasted a stellar ensemble including Nutan, Sridevi, Poonam Dhillon, Dara Singh, Anupam Kher, Tom Alter, Shakti Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Beena Banerjee in pivotal roles.

Karma is also remembered for its memorable soundtrack composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi.

Songs such as Dil Diya Hai Jaan Bhi Denge, Aye Watan Tere Liye, Na Jaiyo Pardes, Maine Rab Se Tujhe and De Daru continue to enjoy enduring popularity even today.
