CM Vijay hails TVK‘s debut budgets as roadmap for inclusive growth

Chennai, Aug 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Thursday congratulated Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister R. Vinoth for presenting the state’s Revised Budget and Agriculture Budget for 2026-27, saying the financial proposals were designed to promote inclusive growth and strengthen the livelihoods of people across sectors.

In a statement issued after the presentation of the Agriculture Budget in the Legislative Assembly, CM Vijay said the two budgets reflected the government’s commitment to Tamil Nadu’s development while placing the welfare of its people at the centre of policymaking.

The Chief Minister conveyed his appreciation to Finance, Planning and Development Minister Marie Wilson for presenting the Revised Budget for 2026-27 and to Vinoth for unveiling the Agriculture Budget.

The Agriculture Budget was presented in the Assembly on Thursday, with Vinoth outlining a series of schemes and initiatives covering farmers, agricultural production and allied sectors. The Minister began reading his Budget speech at 9.31 a.m. and concluded at 11.38 a.m., speaking for more than two hours.

CM Vijay said the revised budget had been formulated with a broad vision to create new opportunities and improve the welfare of different sections of society. He said the proposals were aimed at supporting students, youth, women, children, persons with disabilities, transgender persons, workers, fishermen, weavers, entrepreneurs and government employees, among others.

The Budget, he said, sought to give fresh hope to people from all sections while laying the foundation for the state’s long-term economic and social development.

Referring to the Agriculture Budget, CM Vijay said it had been specifically designed to strengthen farmers’ welfare and livelihoods while accelerating the development of agriculture and allied activities across Tamil Nadu.

The Budget also focuses on livestock farming, fisheries and dairy farming, besides encouraging food processing and value-added industries linked to the agricultural economy.

The Chief Minister said strengthening these sectors would help create additional livelihood opportunities, improve farmers’ economic security and contribute to the overall development of rural Tamil Nadu.

CM Vijay said the government’s fiscal and agricultural plans were intended to ensure that economic progress reached people across different sections of society and regions of the State.

Expressing confidence in the government’s development agenda, the Chief Minister said Tamil Nadu should continue its journey towards greater prosperity with the participation and welfare of all sections of society at its core.
