Another BJP organisational reshuffle likely in Bengal before Durga Puja

Kolkata, July 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to undertake another round of organisational restructuring ahead of the Durga Puja festival in October, with changes expected at the district, mandal and booth levels, according to party insiders.

Sources said the exercise will primarily focus on strengthening the party’s grassroots structure. Some changes in the state committee are also likely, particularly since several BJP MLAs who recently joined the state Cabinet may be relieved of organisational responsibilities in line with the party’s "one person, one post" policy. However, this norm may not apply uniformly to all ministers holding organisational positions.

According to them, this fresh reshuffle will be mainly in the three levels of organisational districts, mandals (blocks) and booths.

“However, there is a possibility of a few changes in the existing state committee as well, with some of the party MLAs given berth in the new state cabinet might be relieved from organisational duties going by the party’s general policy of ‘one person, one post'. However, this will not be applicable for all state ministers, who are also holding positions as the state leaders,” a state committee member of the party said.

Party sources indicated that leaders against whom complaints have been lodged at the state level over the past two months, following the BJP’s rise to power in West Bengal earlier this year, may be removed from their current positions. The move is aimed at strengthening the organisational hierarchy and removing controversial figures from key posts.

The state leadership is also understood to be considering recommendations for two leaders from West Bengal for key positions in the BJP’s central leadership, including the posts of national vice-president and national secretary.

Former state BJP president and current Panchayat Affairs and Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh had earlier served as the party’s national vice-president, while Rajya Sabha MP Rahil Sinha had previously held the position of national secretary. Both leaders have also served as state BJP presidents.

According to party insiders, several former Trinamool Congress grassroots leaders facing serious corruption allegations have been trying to join the BJP since the change in government in the state. However, the state leadership has reportedly instructed party workers not to allow the entry of "undesirable elements".

"The organisational reshuffle is also intended to induct long-time party workers at the grassroots level who can effectively prevent the entry of such elements," a state committee member said.
