As criticism mounted, several old videos of Kangana resurfaced online, with users contrasting her past public appearances with her current political image. One widely circulated clip shows the National Award-winning actress dancing freely at a party during her acting career, which many users are now sharing to question what they describe as a change in her public persona after entering politics. Veteran journalist Ravish Kumar also criticised Kangana's remarks, arguing that, as a sitting Member of Parliament, she should exercise greater restraint in her public statements.
Responding to the criticism, Kangana shared a lengthy selfie video on her social media and wrote, "Taking inspiration from our PM ji and posting a selfie video, do let me know your thoughts about my thoughts he he, also aap sab ko Guru Poornima ki hardik shubhkamnaein." Through the video, the actress attempted to explain her earlier comments and defended her stand on public behaviour and social decorum.
In the video, Kangana said, "I am saying this for the benefit of my friends in the media because I objected to certain protesters displaying unethical and obscene behavior on the streets—in front of children, the elderly, and women. I refused to normalize this; we do not accept such behavior in our society. We do not want our children to become hyper-sexualized—something that would cause us embarrassment in front of our elders. We do not accept this kind of conduct, nor will we allow it to become the norm. That is why the media is ganging up against me. They won't tell you that I have promoted numerous startups and congratulated students who cleared the NEET exam. I have also praised the youth who are taking us to new heights and shouldering family responsibilities—young people who are part of my team, or within our own families and extended circles, accomplishing great things. Yet, for the sake of a few followers, comments, and likes—and because the media has become so compromised—they target me. I see certain feminists and anchors running entire news bulletins against me, lecturing me on women's dignity and discipline. We, as millennial women, faced immense pressure to maintain our dignity; why must we abandon that standard for this generation? Remaining disciplined and upholding decorum is not merely a choice—if you wish to live in society and abide by its norms, you must understand that my freedom ends where another person's rights begin. You are free to do as you please within the confines of your own room….."
Despite Kangana's clarification, the online debate has continued to intensify. Critics argue that her remarks have diverted attention from the primary issue being raised by protesting students—the alleged irregularities surrounding the NEET examination and demands for accountability.
Supporters, meanwhile, have backed her stance on maintaining public decorum and condemned the use of abusive language during demonstrations. The controversy has once again placed Kangana at the centre of a polarising political and social media discussion.
With both supporters and critics weighing in, Kangana Ranaut's latest comments have become one of the most talked-about topics online. As the NEET protests continue to dominate national discourse, the actor-MP's remarks have added another layer to the conversation, fuelling debates over free speech, public conduct, and whether the spotlight is shifting away from the concerns of students demanding answers.
