Jaipur, July 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Acting on the directions of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Headquarters, the anti-corruption body's Jaipur Rural unit on Wednesday arrested Mukesh Kumar, Personal Assistant to the Additional District Collector (Jaipur East), red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a complainant.
Director General of Police (ACB) Govind Gupta said the Bureau had received a complaint alleging that the accused was demanding a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh to process and clear pending bills of the complainant's firm, which had provided vehicles for government examinations.
The complainant also alleged that the accused was repeatedly harassing him and withholding the bills until the bribe was paid.
Following the complaint, the ACB carried out a discreet verification, during which the demand for the bribe was confirmed.
Based on the verification, a trap team was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police (ACB) Rameshwar Singh, the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police Sunil Sihag, and the leadership of Police Inspector Devendra Prasad Sharma.
During the operation, the trap team caught Mukesh Kumar red-handed inside his office chamber while he was accepting Rs 1 lakh from the complainant as part of the illegal gratification.
The accused has been taken into custody, and questioning is in progress.
Further legal proceedings are being carried out under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police (ACB) Smita Srivastava and Inspector General of Police S. Parimala.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau will register a case against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway.
The ACB has appealed to the public to actively support the fight against corruption by reporting incidents of bribery and corruption through its 24x7 toll-free helpline '1064' or WhatsApp helpline '9413502834'.
The Bureau has assured citizens of full assistance in ensuring that their legitimate work is carried out without the payment of bribes.
