Amman, July 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Royal Jordanian Air Force intercepted and shot down two drones targeting the kingdom on Monday morning, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) said.
In a statement, the JAF said the interception caused no casualties or damage.
Royal Engineering Corps teams were dispatched to the sites where the drone debris fell and secured the areas in accordance with established technical and security procedures, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The JAF said it continues to monitor the kingdom's airspace and maintain the highest level of operational readiness to counter any threat to Jordan's security and the safety of its citizens.
On Friday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its aerospace forces had carried out a "crushing" attack on Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, causing significant damage to a number of US fighter aircraft.
It added that barracks housing US forces at the base had also been struck, causing casualties among US personnel.
On Thursday, Iran said that US bases and assets in Kuwait and Jordan were hit in a new round of its retaliation strikes, which inflicted personnel casualties and heavy military losses there.
The Iranian army also said it hit a Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-missile system, a Patriot air defence system, a C-RAM radar system and fuel storage facilities at US bases in Jordan, and destroyed a large warehouse of US helicopter parts and a silo for the maintenance and repair of American helicopters.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the United States is exchanging messages with Iran through mediators, Iranian media reported, citing his remarks in an interview with Austrian broadcaster ORF.
Baghaei stressed in the interview that for any dialogue to be formed, the "proper ground" must be prepared, noting that the United States has destroyed such a ground.
He accused Washington of violating "all its provisions" in practice under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States.
