New Delhi, July 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Centre for Fire, Explosives & Environment Safety (CFEES), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur, will now carry out collaborative and innovative research in fire safety and engage in knowledge sharing.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the two organisations on Monday, July 27, 2026. The MoU was exchanged between the Director, CFEES, and Director, NFSC, in the presence of Prateek Kishore, DG (ACE), DRDO, Ministry of Defence, and Sunil Kumar Jha, DG (Fire Safety, Civil Defence and Home Guard), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The CFEES is a laboratory under the DRDO’s System Analysis and Modelling (SAM) cluster. It works in the fields of fire, explosives, and environmental safety.
NFSC, Nagpur, is a premier institute dedicated to developing skilled professionals in fire and industrial safety, occupational health, disaster management, and emergency response.
The institute provides quality training that meets the evolving demands of industries. Students receive technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional values essential to building successful careers in the field of safety and risk management.
The collaboration between the two institutions will help develop new strategies to tackle modern-day challenges. Officials said the DRDO laboratory’s experience in the field of explosives will help train professionals in tackling disasters involving such substances more effectively.
At the same time, NFSC can use the facilities at CFEES to carry out studies on modern disaster management.
With the nature of industries changing, fire management techniques will have to be upgraded to reduce the extent of damage and bring down casualty figures in cases of accidents, officials added.
There have been several accidents in the recent past at industries dealing with explosives and inflammable material. Specialised teams may be required at such industrial units to maintain proper fire safety norms.
