'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 3 Teaser Unveiled at SDCC; Prime Video Confirms November 11 Premiere

Prime Video turned San Diego Comic-Con's legendary Hall H into Middle-earth as it unveiled the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Alongside the action-packed first look, the streaming giant confirmed that the new season will premiere on November 11, 2026, while also announcing several major cast additions, surprise character reveals, and an expanded release schedule. With more than 6,500 fans in attendance, the Hall H presentation quickly became one of Comic-Con's biggest highlights.

The panel featured series showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, joined by cast members Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, and Season 3 newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower. Actor Benjamin Walker, who portrays High King Gil-galad, moderated the session, guiding fans through exclusive reveals and behind-the-scenes stories from the upcoming season. The event celebrated the fantasy epic's return while offering audiences their first glimpse at the darker chapter awaiting Middle-earth.

The newly released teaser sets a far more ominous tone than previous seasons, with Sauron's relentless pursuit of forging the One Ring taking center stage. As the Dark Lord's influence spreads across Middle-earth, old enemies will be forced into uneasy alliances in a desperate attempt to stop him before his plans come to fruition. The footage teases large-scale battles, haunting landscapes, and the escalating conflict that threatens every kingdom still standing.

Prime Video also introduced an exciting lineup of new characters joining Season 3. Eddie Marsan will portray Thrain, the elder brother of King Durin IV, while Andrew Richardson steps into the role of Anarion, the younger son of Elendil and brother of Isildur. Adam Young has been cast as Marnukh, a mysterious Orc whose role remains under wraps. They join previously announced additions Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, Galadriel's long-lost husband, and Zubin Varla as Khamul the Easterling of Rhun.

One of the biggest surprises of the presentation came with the announcement that Simon Pegg will lend his voice to The Balrog, marking the first time the legendary creature will speak in the series. The reveal was accompanied by an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing the creation of Season 3's creatures, including the fearsome Fell-beasts, Mumakil, Orcs, and the iconic Balrog. Fans inside Hall H were also treated to an unexpected live moment when four armored Nazgnagol stormed the stage. Introduced in the upcoming season, the Nazgnagol are described as Sauron's ring-servants and the Second Age predecessors of the Nazgûl (Ringwraiths) seen in The Lord of the Rings.

Prime Video also confirmed the release schedule for the new season. The first four episodes will debut on November 11, 2026, followed by Episodes 5 and 6 on November 18, with the final two episodes premiering on November 25. The staggered rollout is expected to keep fans engaged throughout the month while allowing each chapter to build momentum.

Set five years after the fall of Eregion, Season 3 finds Middle-earth devastated by war as Sauron's armies continue their conquest. With Khazad-dûm, Lindon, and Rivendell standing among the last great strongholds against the Dark Lord, the survival of Middle-earth depends on whether Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards can overcome centuries of distrust and unite. If they fail, Sauron's completion of the One Ring could secure his ultimate domination.

Produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the series also lists Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and Charlotte Brändström among its executive producers. With a darker story, fan-favorite characters, ambitious world-building, and blockbuster-scale action, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 is shaping up to be one of Prime Video's biggest television events of 2026.
