Bengaluru, July 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi on Friday asserted that the Narendra Modi‑led government is committed to protecting the interests of students and youth, while accusing “anti‑social elements” of attempting to exploit the ongoing protests over the NEET examination controversy.
Addressing the media in New Delhi, Joshi said the Centre has demonstrated genuine concern and sensitivity towards students and has consistently worked to strengthen the country’s education system and secure the future of young people.
He defended the government’s handling of the NEET controversy, stating that the Centre acted swiftly after allegations surfaced and conducted a re‑examination under the surveillance of 1,200 CCTV cameras to ensure complete transparency.
“The Modi government has always stood with students and the youth. It remains committed to taking strict action against any irregularities or injustices that affect their future,” Joshi said.
Appealing to students to remain vigilant, the Union Minister alleged that certain anti‑social forces were attempting to misuse the protests. He claimed that individuals with criminal backgrounds had entered protest sites at Jantar Mantar and sought to influence the agitation.
“Students have every right to protest peacefully. However, there are reports that anti‑social elements are trying to hijack the movement. Students must remain cautious and ensure their genuine concerns are not exploited,” he said.
Joshi further alleged that there were “hidden hands” behind the protests and claimed that a systematic conspiracy was being orchestrated against the Government of India. He urged students to distinguish between genuine activism and politically motivated interventions.
On demands for resignations over examination paper leaks, Joshi said resignations alone would not solve a problem that has persisted for decades.
“Question paper leaks have been a recurring issue for years. The solution is not merely seeking resignations but implementing systemic reforms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already announced the establishment of fast‑track courts to ensure swift justice in such cases,” he said.
The Union Minister also hit out at Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition, questioning how many education ministers or chief ministers had resigned during the UPA era over similar incidents.
“Paper leaks have occurred in several examinations over the years, including UPSC, PUC and SSLC exams. How many resignations took place during the UPA’s 65 years in public life?” he asked.
Referring to Karnataka, Joshi cited allegations surrounding the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) and questioned whether any accountability had been fixed in the state over examination‑related controversies.
He reiterated that the government was prepared for a constructive discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament.
“Parliament exists for debate, and we are ready for a dignified discussion in both Houses. The Opposition should come forward with suggestions and cooperation in the interest of the country’s youth. We are willing to consider all constructive proposals,” Joshi said.
