MP CM inaugurates first arm of Indore double‑layer flyover

Indore, July 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday inaugurated the first operational arm of the state’s first double‑layer flyover at Lavkush Square in Indore, describing it as a major milestone in infrastructure development and saying it will significantly improve traffic movement on the busy Indore‑Ujjain route.

Constructed by the Indore Development Authority for Rs 175 crore, the flyover is expected to reduce congestion, shorten travel time and improve connectivity, particularly in view of the Simhastha 2028 congregation in neighbouring Ujjain.

With the opening of the first arm, traffic from Aurobindo Hospital towards Banganga has been allowed to use the elevated corridor. The second arm of the flyover is in the final stage of construction and is expected to be opened soon.

Addressing the inaugural function, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said Indore continues to lead the state in development, and the project reflects the government’s focus on creating modern urban infrastructure.

He remarked that “Indore and development are synonymous. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country and Madhya Pradesh are witnessing all‑round development. This project is an important step towards the vision of a developed Indore and a developed Madhya Pradesh.”

He said the flyover would play a key role in managing increasing traffic on the Indore‑Ujjain route during Simhastha 2028 and would provide long‑term benefits to commuters.

“The flyover will ensure smooth traffic flow, reduce travel time, save fuel, ease congestion and provide safe and convenient commuting. It is a significant infrastructure achievement and will emerge as a new symbol of Indore’s modern urban development,” Yadav added.

According to officials, the project has been designed with a three‑level traffic system. While the ground level will continue to handle local traffic at Lavkush Square, the second level accommodates the existing flyover and the Metro rail corridor.

The newly constructed third level consists of the double‑layer flyover, which is expected to ease traffic pressure at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The flyover is around 1,450 metres long and features two steel bow‑string girders weighing 400 tonnes each. Installed at a height of 22 metres, the structure uses nearly 800 tonnes of steel, making it one of Madhya Pradesh’s significant engineering projects.
