Ayesha Khan Says She Was Detained by Mumbai Police During Peaceful Protest, Shares Emotional Videos

Actress Ayesha Khan, who is set to appear in the upcoming film Dhurandhar, has claimed that she was detained by the Mumbai Police while peacefully standing on a road on July 22. The actress shared a series of emotional videos and Instagram Stories, alleging that she was taken into a police van despite not participating in any protest or raising slogans. Her posts have since sparked widespread discussion on social media.

In one of the videos, Ayesha appeared visibly shaken as she addressed her followers from inside a police van. She said her hands were trembling and claimed she had been detained simply for standing peacefully on the road. According to the actress, she had not spoken, protested, or initiated any demonstration. She explained that she was present because her brother and a few of her male friends had already been detained, and she was waiting nearby when police officers allegedly took her into custody as well.

The actress also turned her camera to show several others seated inside the police vehicle, questioning why so many people had been detained without any explanation. Ayesha repeatedly asked the officers where they were being taken, but she claimed that no clear response was provided. In another Instagram Story, she posted photographs of police personnel with the caption, "Been detained for standing peacefully on the road. #AccountabilityWhere?", raising concerns about the lack of communication during the incident.

Another video shared by Ayesha showed multiple women police officers escorting and pushing her into the police van as she resisted. Reacting to the incident, the actress questioned why such force was necessary. She maintained that she had neither created a disturbance nor joined any unlawful gathering. According to Ayesha, she was not even part of a group of five people, making her detention difficult to understand from her perspective.

Before the alleged detention, Ayesha Khan had publicly voiced support for the ongoing Jantar Mantar protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party and students demanding accountability over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy. Through her social media posts, she urged popular paparazzi pages and entertainment media outlets to give more attention to issues affecting students instead of focusing only on celebrity gossip and glamour.

In one of her earlier messages, Ayesha admitted that she herself had only recently become aware of the scale of the protests. She said it was unfortunate that important national issues often receive less attention than entertainment-related content. Calling for greater public awareness, the actress encouraged people to stay informed about matters that could shape the future of young students across the country.

Ayesha Khan's videos have now gone viral, with social media users debating the circumstances surrounding her alleged detention and the broader handling of peaceful demonstrations. While her posts have generated significant attention online, there has been no official statement from the Mumbai Police addressing the specific claims made by the actress at the time of writing.
