Mumbai, July 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief leader Eknath Shinde on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over the call to protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official residence.
Questioning the Congress leader's motives, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde asked, "What exactly did Rahul Gandhi intend to achieve by urging people to gather at a location where protests are prohibited? Was there a plot to cause sabotage at the Prime Minister's residence? Was this an attempt to create anarchy in the country?"
He emphasised that as the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi holds a major constitutional responsibility and is expected to act with maturity.
He accused Rahul Gandhi of setting a dangerous precedent by orchestrating a protest outside the Prime Minister's residence.
"Calling people to a restricted area where no one is allowed to protest is extremely irresponsible. This was a clear attempt to play politics on the shoulders of students," he said.
Acknowledging the NEET exam paper leak incident as 'unfortunate', the Deputy Chief Minister noted that the Central government took immediate and strict action following the event.
"The re-examination for NEET was conducted with complete transparency and rigour. Around 20 to 22 lakh students appeared for the exam, with nearly 11 lakh qualifying. Following that, national-level examinations like JEE and CUET (Common University Entrance Test) were also conducted smoothly. Across these three major exams, 40 to 50 lakh students participated," he said.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union government personally monitored the process and issued necessary instructions to the relevant agencies. Intervention at the highest level ensured that the examination system became more secure, transparent, and trustworthy. While the Union government acted to safeguard the future of the students, the Opposition merely tried to politicise the issue," Deputy Chief Minister Shinde alleged.
