MP Cabinet to meet at Jagdishpur tomorrow

Bhopal, July 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet will meet at the heritage village of Jagdishpur near Bhopal on Sunday, continuing Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s initiative of holding cabinet meetings at historical, cultural and tribal locations across the state.

The meeting will be the eighth cabinet session held outside the state capital since Yadav took charge as Chief Minister. The state government said the initiative aims to bring governance closer to different regions of Madhya Pradesh while promoting places of historical and cultural importance.

“Important public welfare decisions should not remain confined to the Secretariat. They should also be taken from different parts of the state,” Yadav said.

According to the government, cabinet meetings have so far been held at Jabalpur, Singrampur in Damoh district, Maheshwar in Khargone, Rajwada in Indore, Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district, Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district and Nagalwadi in Barwani district.

The venues were selected to honour personalities associated with bravery, good governance and public service, including Rani Durgavati, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar and tribal ruler Raja Bhabhut Singh. Meetings have also been held at Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Pachmarhi, the state’s only hill station.

“Our effort is to connect every region of the state with the government’s decision‑making process and recognise its history and heritage,” the Chief Minister said.

The government said the meetings have helped bring attention to heritage sites and improved coordination between public representatives and officials in different regions. Yadav has also decided to hold agriculture cabinet meetings in different parts of the state. A cabinet meeting is also proposed to be held in Ujjain, the city of Lord Mahakal.

The first cabinet meeting of the destination under Yadav’s leadership was held in Jabalpur on January 3, 2024. It was followed by meetings in Singrampur, Maheshwar, Indore, Pachmarhi, Khajuraho and Nagalwadi.

“These meetings are aimed at taking governance closer to the people and recognising the contribution of places and personalities that have shaped Madhya Pradesh,” Yadav said.

The Jagdishpur meeting is expected to discuss policy matters and public welfare proposals. The government said holding the meeting at the heritage village would also help highlight its historical importance and promote tourism in the area.
