JD-U suspends Janata Darbar event until Aug 2 amid Bihar Assembly session and Bankipur by-election

Patna, July 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) Political activity in Bihar has intensified ahead of the upcoming Legislative Assembly session and the Bankipur Assembly by-election.

In view of these crucial political engagements, the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) has temporarily suspended its Janata Darbar (public grievance hearing) programme held at the party's state office.

According to a notice issued on Friday by State JD-U President Umesh Singh Kushwaha, the Janata Darbar will remain suspended from July 18 to August 2.

The public hearing programme will resume in its regular format on August 3.

The JD-U said that the decision was taken because of the Bihar Legislative Assembly session, beginning from July 20, and the Bankipur Assembly by-election, scheduled for July 30, both of which will require the full attention of Ministers and senior party leaders.

The Janata Darbar has been one of the JD-U's key public outreach initiatives, allowing citizens to present their grievances directly before Ministers from the party.

Under the regular schedule, Ministers hear public complaints on designated days at the JD-U state office.

However, with Ministers occupied by legislative responsibilities and election campaigning, the programme has been suspended for nearly two weeks.

As a result, members of the public seeking to meet Ministers through the Janata Darbar will have to wait until August 3, when the initiative resumes.

Meanwhile, the Bankipur Assembly by-election has emerged as one of the most closely watched political contests in Bihar. Voting is scheduled for July 30.

The by-election was necessitated after BJP President Nitin Nabin vacated the Bankipur Assembly seat following his election to the Rajya Sabha.

Considered a traditional BJP stronghold, the Assembly constituency has become the focus of an intense multi-cornered contest.

The BJP initially nominated Abhishek Kumar alias Bunty, but later replaced him with Neeraj Kumar as its official candidate.

The election has gained further prominence with Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, entering the fray, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has fielded Rekha Kumari Gupta.

Reports indicate that 25 candidates are contesting the seat.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is aiming to retain its long-held dominance in Bankipur, while Jan Suraaj is seeking to make a significant political breakthrough through Prashant Kishor's candidature.

The RJD is also attempting to strengthen its presence in the Assembly constituency.

Political observers believe the Bankipur by-election carries significance beyond a single Assembly seat, with its outcome likely to influence Bihar's political landscape and Opposition strategies ahead of future electoral battles.
