
Patna, July 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a major operation to strengthen law and order, curb crime and enforce Bihar’s prohibition law, the Patna Police conducted a district‑wide special drive on July 16 under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya K. Sharma.
The intensive operation resulted in the arrest of 158 accused, who have since been jailed.
The coordinated raids were carried out simultaneously across several police station areas, including Maner, Ramkrishna Nagar, Agamkuan, Fatuha, Pachmahla, Malsalami and Bikram.
According to the SSP, those arrested were wanted in a range of serious criminal cases, including two murder cases, 21 attempted murder cases, one case involving an attack on a police team, 22 liquor smuggling cases and offences under the SC/ST Act.
As part of the crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, police seized 2,438.05 litres of illicit liquor, including 1,726.05 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 712 litres of country‑made liquor.
The operation also led to the recovery of 377 grams of cannabis (ganja), 11 grams of smack (heroin), seven vehicles allegedly used for smuggling, nine mobile phones and Rs 15,010 in cash.
Police also recovered two firearms, four live cartridges, one magazine and three spent cartridges during searches conducted at various locations.
In addition to the arrests and seizures, the operation focused on executing pending court orders.
Police successfully executed 164 warrants, including 56 bailable warrants, 94 non‑bailable warrants and 14 property attachment warrants, targeting long‑absconding accused persons.
SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma said the special drive is part of the Patna Police’s continued efforts to maintain public order, curb organised crime and ensure strict enforcement of the state’s prohibition law.
He emphasised that similar operations will continue in the coming days and appealed to citizens to promptly inform the police about criminal activities or illegal liquor operations in their localities so that timely action can be taken.
