Guwahati, July 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a community outreach initiative, the Indian Army organised an educational and recreational visit for specially abled children from Assam to the Golden Pagoda in Arunachal Pradesh, officials said on Thursday.
The programme was organised by the Red Shield Gunners under the aegis of the Spear Corps for 15 children and eight staff members of Navarupantar Children Home at Rupai in Assam’s Tinsukia district.
Located in the Namsai district, the Golden Pagoda is one of the Northeast’s prominent Buddhist landmarks, known for its golden architecture, serene surroundings, and cultural significance.
During the visit, the children explored the pagoda complex and learned about its history, Buddhist traditions, and values of peace, compassion, and harmony. Army personnel accompanied them throughout, ensuring safety and comfort while making the visit both educational and enjoyable.
Apart from touring the monument, the children participated in recreational activities, interacted with Army personnel, clicked photographs, and spent time amid the tranquil surroundings.
Officials said the initiative aimed to provide the children with an enriching experience beyond their daily routine while promoting inclusion, confidence, and social interaction. The Army said the outing offered the children an opportunity to discover a culturally significant destination, encouraging curiosity and joyful learning.
The visit also helped strengthen social bonds and created lasting memories, reflecting the Army’s commitment towards the welfare and holistic development of specially abled children. Officials added that such programmes reaffirm the Army’s commitment to inclusive development and fostering goodwill among communities in the border areas of the Northeast.
