Gandhinagar, July 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) More than 500 experts from over 50 countries gathered at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar for a three-day international summit to strengthen global cooperation in digital forensics and AI-enabled investigations, with the event concluding on Wednesday.
The 1st International Investigators' Summit and Competition on 'AI-Enabled Digital Forensic Investigations' was organised by NFSU in association with INTERPOL and held alongside the 11th INTERPOL Digital Forensic Expert Group (DFEG) Meeting on July 13 and 14.
The event brought together academicians, law enforcement officers, digital forensic specialists, cybersecurity experts and industry representatives to discuss emerging technologies, exchange best practices and examine ways to improve international cooperation in tackling increasingly complex digital crimes.
A key feature of the event was the inaugural International Investigators Competition, a practical contest that challenged law enforcement and forensic practitioners with realistic, scenario-based digital investigation cases.
The competition attracted 122 participants from India and abroad.
Speaking at the valedictory ceremony, NFSU Vice Chancellor Dr J. M. Vyas said the digital age required stronger collaboration across multiple sectors to keep pace with evolving criminal threats.
"The future of justice in the digital age demands sustained collaboration among academia, law enforcement, industry and policymakers. This summit has provided a vital platform for such engagement. NFSU is proud to have initiated this effort to bridge the gaps among these stakeholders and looks forward to fostering a strong and reliable global network capable of addressing complex transnational crimes and setting new benchmarks in digital forensic investigations," he said.
The summit followed the two-day 11th INTERPOL Digital Forensic Expert Group meeting, which brought together digital forensic practitioners, government agencies and law enforcement leaders for closed-door discussions on strategic issues in the field.
An exhibition was also organised during the event, where industry participants, including Indian start-ups, showcased digital forensic tools, technologies and innovations.
According to NFSU, the summit concluded with a renewed emphasis on international collaboration in digital forensics and AI-enabled investigations as countries seek to address the growing challenges posed by transnational cybercrime and digital evidence.
