Ishqnama Trailer Unveils an Epic Love Story That Defies Borders and History

The trailer of Ishqnama, starring Shehnaaz Gill and Jai Randhawa, has finally been unveiled, offering audiences a powerful glimpse into a period romance inspired by a remarkable true story. Directed by Arvvindr S. Khaira, the Punjabi film is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan border and promises an emotional tale of love, sacrifice, and resilience. Also featuring Saurabh Sachdeva, the film is slated for a worldwide release across India, Canada, and the UK on July 24, 2026.

Adapted from the acclaimed book Hind Pak Bordernama, Ishqnama is inspired by the real-life story of Nimma and Naseema. Set between 1981 and 1988, the film follows Nimma, a Sikh poet from Indian Punjab, who falls in love with Naseema, a Muslim girl from Pakistani Punjab. Their relationship blossoms despite the deep scars left behind by Partition, making their romance a moving story of hope that transcends borders, religion, and politics.

Adding to the emotional impact is the fact that Nimma is still alive and lives in India, while Naseema is believed to have later moved to England, with efforts currently underway to trace her. This unique real-life connection makes Ishqnama more than just a period romance—it is a story rooted in living history.

The trailer showcases breathtaking visuals, stirring performances, and soulful music, presenting an old-school romance where love becomes an act of courage. The film's music has been composed by B Praak with lyrics by Jaani, further elevating the emotional depth seen in the trailer.
