Himachal: BJP slams Congress over charges against Ram Janmabhoomi Trust

Shimla, July 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Himachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday criticised the Congress for allegations against the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, calling the charges politically motivated and an attempt to exploit the faith of millions of devotees for political gains.

BJP chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal said the Congress, which opposed the Ram Janmabhoomi movement for decades and repeatedly attempted to obstruct the construction of the Ram Temple, is now trying to create unnecessary controversy around an issue deeply connected to the nation's faith.

He said if there is any political party that must first introspect before speaking about corruption, it is the Congress itself. He added that the Congress regime witnessed some of the biggest corruption scandals in India's history, involving enormous losses to the public exchequer and severely damaging the country's global image.

Jamwal said the nation has not forgotten the 2G Spectrum scam, the Coal Allocation (Coalgate) scam, the Commonwealth Games scam, the AgustaWestland Helicopter Deal, the Adarsh Housing Society scam, the National Herald case, the Bofors scandal, the Aircel-Maxis case, and several other corruption allegations that surfaced during Congress-led governments. He said these scandals became symbols of corruption and misgovernance under the Congress.

The BJP spokesperson said it was ironic that the Congress, whose tenure was marked by repeated allegations of large-scale corruption, is now attempting to lecture others on transparency and accountability.

He said the Congress leaders should first explain their own party's record before raising politically motivated allegations against institutions associated with the Ram Temple.

Jamwal said Lord Ram is a symbol of faith for millions of Indians, and the Ram Temple belongs to the entire nation, not to any political party.

He asserted that if any issue requires examination, it should be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law and established legal procedures. However, he accused the Congress of dragging a sacred institution into political controversy solely for electoral gain.

He further said the BJP remains firmly committed to transparency, accountability, and good governance, whereas the Congress' political legacy has been overshadowed by corruption scandals and appeasement politics.
