Bharat Tiwari case: Parents depose before judicial inquiry commission

Patna, July 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) The judicial inquiry into the high-profile Bharat Tiwari police encounter case in Bihar's Bhojpur district moved forward on Saturday, with the deceased's parents recording their statements before the commission constituted by the state government to investigate the incident.

The statements were recorded separately before Justice (Retd.) Vinod Kumar Sinha, who is heading the judicial inquiry commission.

Speaking to reporters after his deposition, Kashinath Tiwari, the father of the deceased, said he informed the commission about everything that had happened on the day of the incident.

According to him, he told the commission that the police had taken him to the station and kept him there throughout the day while the incident unfolded.

He said he presented the sequence of events as he experienced and understood them.

When asked about the progress of the investigation, Kashinath Tiwari said the commission informed him that the inquiry is still underway and expressed hope that an impartial investigation would lead to appropriate action.

The deceased's mother, Asha Devi, also appeared before the commission and gave her account of the incident. She said she recounted what she had personally witnessed and experienced and shared information about the police personnel she suspected were involved in the case.

According to Asha Devi, the commission questioned her in detail for about an hour to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

She said she also raised several issues before the commission, including the arrest of the police personnel accused in the case, information about a mobile phone linked to the incident, and her concerns about the investigation.

She said the commission informed her that statements of all concerned persons and witnesses would first be recorded, after which further action would be considered based on the evidence collected.

Expressing hope for justice, Asha Devi said the outcome would become clearer only after all witnesses have been examined and the inquiry process is completed.

She added that other family members have also been summoned to record their statements before the commission.

The judicial inquiry commission, constituted by the Bihar government, is examining all aspects of the Bharat Tiwari encounter case. The commission is recording witness statements in phases.

Testimonies of other family members, police personnel involved in the incident, and additional witnesses are expected to be recorded in the coming days before the commission reaches its findings.
