
Srinagar, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Three CRPF troopers were injured when their vehicle was hit by another vehicle in the Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar, J&K Police said on Wednesday, adding that the driver involved has been arrested.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were deployed for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra near the Taingan Bypass in the Nowgam area. The injured paramilitary personnel belonged to the D Company of the force's 148th Battalion.
A police official said the driver involved in the incident was arrested shortly after the accident. The injured personnel were immediately shifted to Ujala Cygnus Hospital, Nowgam, where they are undergoing treatment, he said. Police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
Only last week, seven CRPF personnel were injured near the tunnel in Sonmarg area of Ganderbal district after the driver lost control on the wheel of their vehicle and it skidded off the road. The CRPF jawans were administered first aid on the spot.
The CRPF manages security on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) for secure, smooth passage of the Amarnath Yatra.
Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, it has implemented a robust security plan to safeguard pilgrims travelling on the NH-44.
The CRPF also manages security from Jammu right up to the two base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam, in addition to the transit camps at Mirbazar in south Kashmir, and Saidpora and Manigam in north Kashmir, jointly with the J&K Police.
