R. Madhavan's 'GDN' Trailer Unveils Inspiring Story of G.D. Naidu, the 'Edison of India'

The official trailer for GDN, the much-awaited biographical period drama starring R. Madhavan, has finally been unveiled ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on July 17, 2026. The film chronicles the extraordinary life of legendary inventor, engineer, and industrialist G.D. Naidu, who earned the title of the "Edison of India" for his groundbreaking contributions to science, technology, and entrepreneurship. With an emotionally charged trailer packed with ambition, innovation, and conflict, GDN has already emerged as one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year.

The trailer introduces Madhavan as G.D. Naidu, portraying the visionary during different stages of his remarkable life. Set during British India, the film follows Naidu's inspiring journey from a curious young man with big dreams to one of the country's greatest inventors and entrepreneurs. As his transport business flourishes and his innovations gain international recognition, he finds himself facing increasing resistance from British authorities determined to bring him down.

One of the trailer's biggest highlights is its depiction of the numerous obstacles that shaped G.D. Naidu's life. The preview teases police raids, fabricated tax evasion allegations, and even shocking accusations of treason linked to his alleged business dealings with the Nazis. These incidents form the emotional and political backbone of the film, showcasing the immense personal and professional challenges faced by the pioneering inventor while striving to build a better future.

Alongside R. Madhavan, GDN boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Sathyaraj, Jayaram, who appears as the film's primary antagonist, Priyamani, Vinay Rai, Dushara Vijayan, and Aditi Balan. Written and directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, the film also features a screenplay co-written by Madhavan himself. The music and background score have been composed by Govind Vasantha, while Aravind Kamalanathan serves as the cinematographer, giving the period drama a grand visual scale.

The trailer was launched during a special event at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, the hometown of G.D. Naidu, making the occasion even more meaningful for fans and admirers of the legendary inventor. Produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures in association with Madhavan's Tricolour Films, the movie aims to celebrate the life and achievements of one of India's greatest yet often overlooked visionaries.

Releasing in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, GDN is set to reach audiences across the country when it arrives in theatres on July 17, 2026. Judging by its powerful trailer, the film promises an inspiring blend of history, innovation, patriotism, and emotional storytelling, offering a fitting tribute to the man whose ideas earned him the enduring title of the "Edison of India."
