Amaravati, July 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has accused the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh of acting in a vindictive manner against social media activists who are highlighting its failures in governance and said the party will stand by the victims, irrespective of their party affiliations.
Former minister Ambati Rambabu told the media in Guntur that by haunting YouTuber influencers like KVR and Raavan, the coalition is digging its own grave by incessantly pursuing the cases till they are jailed and YSRCP will stand by those affected persons as the government’s vindictive nature has come into the open.
"The case of Prashna Raavan alias Bachalakura Joseph has gone too far, with the government haunting him and producing him before magistrates at multiple locations and when they failed to get remand they changed the Sections of the case he was charged with and ensured that he is remanded in Nellore jail," he said.
The YSRCP leader said that those in power have booked him under UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) which is normally used against terrorists only to suit their purpose.
He stated that demeaning the legal justice system, (Jana Sena) party cadre had mounted pressure on police to surrender the accused to them so that they could take the law into their hands.
He was referring to the Jana Sena cadres staging protests at various police stations where Raavana was kept, demanding police to hand over the YouTuber to them.
"It has become a habit for the coalition government to convert victims as accused and this is going on since long," Rambabu said.
The former minister another social media influencer KVR was also picked up from Hyderabad in the same manner.
“To cover up the custodial death of Sai Krishna and the suicide of Kranti Kumar, the government has been resorting to diversion politics and harassing journalists and social media activists in a very undemocratic and unlawful manner, filing cases at multiple places,” he said.
Rambabu said while social media activists supporting TDP were posting objectionable material against YSRCP and its leadership, no action was taken so far despite the complaints.
He announced that he will go on a padayatra to the DGP office to pursue the complaint he had given.
