‘Happy to see it back at temple’: Ex-Home Secy on ‘missing’ golden Ramcharitmanas

New Delhi, July 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Days after the former Home Secretary S Laxmi Narayan claimed that the gold-plated ‘Ramcharitmanas’ donated by his family to the temple had gone missing, much like the embezzlement of cash and offerings, he voiced happiness today over its return and display inside the sanctum sanctorum of the holy shrine.

He also exuded confidence in the state administration's ability to bring the culprits to book for bringing infamy to the temple.

“I am very happy that the Ramcharitmanas has now been placed here and is being worshipped. My faith has been restored, and I am happy now,” he said.

The noted bureaucrat claimed, just days ago, that the 151-kg gold-plated Ramcharitmanas, donated by him and his wife to the Ram Temple, had disappeared due to the Trust's negligence.

Pointing fingers at the Trust’s general secretary Champat Rai, he said that the responsibility for the temple’s administration rested with him, and the alleged loot, including his golden scripture, occurred under his watch.

During a recent interaction with the media, he stated that the gold-plated Ramcharitmanas was displayed at the Temple for devotees for the first five months, but later disappeared without any reason, explanation, or acknowledgement from the Trust.

“Earlier, it was worshipped but later removed and kept in a guard room. When I raised the issue, no attention was paid to it,” he remarked.

The former top bureaucrat said he was disappointed with Champat Rai’s handling of affairs and that he also approached the RSS chief, seeking his assistance.

He said he had repeatedly asked Champat Rai to keep the gold-plated Ramcharitmanas on display so people could view it, but he ignored his request, saying they couldn’t fulfil everyone's wishes.

S Laxmi Narayan further told IANS that after the news of the theft of Ram Mandir donation surfaced, he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and the Trust's General Secretary, seeking information about the gold Ram Charit Manas.

“I am very happy today that the Ramcharitmanas has now been placed there and is being worshipped,” he said and hoped that the state administration comes down hard on the perpetrators.
