Telangana: KTR challenges Revanth Reddy for debate on governance

Hyderabad, July 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for an open public debate on what he called the Congress government's administrative failures, the plight of farmers, the ongoing agrarian crisis, and the overall governance of the state.

Addressing a press conference, he said he was prepared to participate in a debate anywhere in Telangana, at any time.

The BRS leader declared that if he failed to expose the failures of the Congress government with facts and evidence, he would resign on the spot and permanently retire from politics.

Condemning Revanth Reddy's recent remarks describing Telangana as a "bankrupt state", KTR said that if Telangana is facing financial distress, it is solely because of the corruption and loot by the Chief Minister, his family members, ministers, and Congress leaders.

KTR said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy suffers from a poverty of thought and has consistently been tarnishing Telangana's image.

He remarked that no leader who truly cares for his state would publicly declare that it is bankrupt.

Yet, according to KTR, Revanth Reddy repeatedly insults Telangana by calling it a bankrupt state on one occasion, an AIDS patient on another, and even a cancer patient.

He said no other Chief Minister in the country speaks so derogatorily about the very state he represents.

Referring to Revanth Reddy's frequent visits to New Delhi, KTR questioned why the Chief Minister had travelled to Delhi 72 times in just 30 months despite repeatedly claiming that Telangana receives no respect there.

He demanded that Revanth explain whom he was pleading with during those visits and asserted that if the Chief Minister was genuinely committed to Telangana, he should remain in the state for the next two-and-a-half years and focus entirely on governance.

Rejecting the Chief Minister's claim that Telangana is bankrupt, KTR said the state had emerged as one of India's most prosperous under the leadership of K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

He claimed that KCR transformed Telangana into a land with a crore acres under cultivation.

Agricultural production, farmers' incomes, and irrigation had more than doubled during the BRS government.

KTR alleged that people across the country are not looking down upon Telangana but are instead rejecting Revanth Reddy because of his own reputation.

He claimed that despite receiving little support from the Union Government in terms of projects or additional financial assistance, the BRS government successfully placed Telangana on a remarkable growth trajectory solely because KCR treated Telangana as a state earned through sacrifice and struggle.

Countering allegations regarding state debt, KTR said the Union Government itself had informed Parliament, in response to a question raised by BJP MP Raghunandan Rao, that Telangana's outstanding debt stood at around Rs 2.7 lakh crore.

Despite this, Revanth Reddy continues to make contradictory claims by citing figures of Rs 6 lakh crore, Rs 7 lakh crore, and even Rs 8 lakh crore.

He accused the Chief Minister of deliberately misrepresenting the state's finances and interest payments to portray Telangana as bankrupt.

KTR said that if Telangana were ever to face bankruptcy, it would be because of the alleged corruption, looting, and financial mismanagement by Revanth Reddy, his family members, ministers, and Congress leaders.

He accused the government of misleading the public through false financial narratives while depriving every section of society.

KTR also questioned the government's priorities, stating that there was no money for farmers, students, women, retired employees, or government employees, yet the Chief Minister was reportedly willing to allocate Rs 1,000 crore to the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

He said this contradiction had shocked the people of Telangana.

KTR remarked that the Chief Minister appeared inconsistent in his positions.

On one day he claims Telangana is bankrupt, while on another he promises to make every citizen a millionaire.

Similarly, he alternates between promising complete paddy procurement and later stating that procurement will be limited according to the Centre's directions.

KTR also criticised the construction of what he described as a Rs 200-crore official residence while simultaneously claiming the government lacked funds.

He questioned why midnight religious rituals were allegedly conducted there if everything was above board.
