New Delhi, June 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a significant crackdown under 'Operation Shastra -No Guns, No Gangs', personnel of the Delhi Police's Najafgarh Police Station have arrested six for possessing illegal firearms, including one wanted in a murder case, within a span of 24 hours, police said on Tuesday.
According to a police statement, a special enforcement campaign titled 'No Guns, No Gangs' is underway, under the leadership and guidance of DCP, Dwarka, Kushal Pal Singh and Additional DCP-I, Dwarka, Vikas Meena, to eliminate the menace of illegal firearms and dismantle criminal gangs operating in the district.
At about 12.30 am, during their routine patrolling duty, Bravo Najafgarh in charge, Inspector O.P. Vishnoi, along with constable Bijender, noticed a black car approaching from the Dwarka side at UER-II Road near Nangli Sakrawati Bus Stand and signalled it to stop. However, the driver attempted to flee from the spot, but the vehicle was intercepted by strategically blocking its path with the police vehicle.
During the checking of the vehicle, a licenced pistol, an illegal pistol, and two magazines with 11 live cartridges were recovered from the possession of one of the occupants, identified as Naveen, 27. Three live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the second accused, Kunal, 20.
Accordingly, FIR No.291/2026, under Section 25 of the Arms Act, has been registered at PS Najafgarh.
Meanwhile, Head Constable Jitendra Singh was on patrol duty with constable Durga Prasad, near Ganda Nala Road, UER-II, Jai Vihar Phase-I, Najafgarh, during which they noticed a suspicious person, chased him, and apprehended him after a brief pursuit.
The apprehended accused was identified as Ravi Sharma, 28, and an illegal country-made loaded pistol, a magazine and 10 live cartridges (7.63 mm calibre) were seized from his possession.
FIR No. 295/26, under Section 25 of the Arms Act, has been registered.
In another recovery of illegal firearms, Head Constable Parminder received secret information through Head Constable Dharmendra No. 1249/DW that a person wanted in a case lodged in Haryana was present at Najafgarh's Prem Vihar Colony, carrying an illegal firearm.
According to officials, the accused was wanted in case FIR No. 65/26 under murder and the Arms Act, in Haryana's Jhajjar district.
Upon reaching the spot, the team chased and apprehended the suspect despite his attempt to flee.
Police said that a loaded country-made pistol (.30 bore) with one magazine containing two live cartridges was recovered from the accused, identified as Pankaj alias Rakesh alias Kaliya, 21.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 298/2026, under Section 25 of the Arms Act, was registered at Najafgarh Police Station.
Officials revealed that in total, five pistols, 32 cartridges, and a vehicle have been recovered from the arrested accused.
