Khesari Lal Yadav meets Bharat Tiwari's family, extends support

Patna, June 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bhojpuri actor and singer Khesari Lal Yadav visited Bilauti village in Bhojpur district to meet the family of Bharat Tiwari, whose death during a police encounter has sparked political and social controversy across Bihar.

During his visit, Khesari Lal Yadav offered condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of his support in their pursuit of justice. He also provided financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the family.

While interacting with family members, Khesari said the struggle for justice primarily belonged to the family and urged them to continue their movement.

He remarked that the issue should not remain confined to the village and suggested that the family take their demands to larger public forums and urban centres. He assured them that he would stand with them whenever needed.

Addressing the family, he said that what was destined to happen to the mother had already happened, as she would not get Bharat back. He urged them not to let the martyrdom become merely a publicity issue and to continue their movement, adding that wherever he was needed, he would stand by them.

Khesari also commented on the judicial inquiry announced by the Bihar government. He questioned the investigation process, saying that both the investigating agency and those accused belonged to the same police system.

His remarks come amid continuing demands from political parties, social organisations, and residents for an impartial investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, Bihar ADG (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar stated that the police headquarters had entrusted the DIG of the Shahabad Range with investigating the case.

According to the ADG, two FIRs (Case Nos. 169/26 and 170/26) had been registered. He said scientific investigation methods, including FSL analysis, would be used. A judicial inquiry headed by a retired High Court judge had been constituted, and the investigation would be conducted transparently.

He emphasised that an encounter could not be considered an achievement and stated that police may use force only when acting in self-defence.

The ADG confirmed that disciplinary action had already been taken against police personnel after preliminary findings indicated negligence during the initial stages of the incident. Those suspended included the Station House Officer (SHO), two sub-inspectors, one assistant sub-inspector, and one constable. Departmental proceedings had also been initiated against the officials concerned.

Police had visited Bilauti village on June 15 after a video allegedly showing Bharat Tiwari carrying a pistol circulated on social media. The encounter occurred on June 17 during a police operation in the village.

While the police maintain that Bharat Tiwari opened fire on officers, family members and residents allege that he had surrendered before being shot.

The incident has since triggered protests, political reactions, demands for judicial intervention, and multiple investigations, making it one of the most closely watched law-and-order cases in Bihar in recent weeks.
