Lucknow, June 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid the controversy over allegations of missing offerings at Ayodhya's Ram Temple, Tapasvi Chavani seer Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya made a counter charge at the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav, demanding their "narco-test".
His reaction comes even as a Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed by the Uttar Pradesh government, is probing the allegations.
While maintaining that the truth will come out after the SIT probe, the Hindu saint said: "Till a narco test of Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav is not conducted, the complete truth won't be revealed."
Particularly targeting Akhilesh Yadav, Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya added: "Someone who (Akhilesh Yadav) has not paid a visit at the Ram Mandir, becomes the first one to know about missing offerings at the temple. That is why narco test should be conducted on them."
Moreover, the Hindu saint went on to accuse the Lok Sabha LoP and SP Chief of having a role in the alleged irregularities of donations at Ram Mandir.
"A conspiracy was being hatched for a long time now and it was carried out through small-time workers. The latter followed the instructions to carry out the crime," he told IANS.
He added: "Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav are masterminds of this act. Through this, they aimed to malign Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP, the Temple Trust and the Sanatan faith."
However, Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad said that the matter does not only concern Uttar Pradesh and that it is an issue for the whole country. He demanded an investigation by a committee constituted by the Supreme Court.
"This is a very big issue because crores of people in the country have faith in Lord Ram. Therefore, the investigation of this matter should be done under the judiciary's ambit, and only by a committee constituted by the Supreme Court," he told reporters.
Meanwhile, a representation has been submitted before the Supreme Court seeking directions for the registration of an FIR and a court-monitored investigation into allegations of misappropriation of donations and offerings made at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.
Addressed to Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, the representation was filed by Advocate-on-Record Anoop Prakash Awasthi, who urged the apex court to consider ordering an independent probe by a premier investigating agency such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the direct supervision of the Supreme Court.
